Do not miss it!
When “festival season” is upon us, it’s easy to imagine a desert landscape full of heads adorned with flower crowns and groups of friends bopping along to the biggest “indie” name around. For most people, these festivals have become experiencing festival life more than the actual music being played- which is great don’t get me wrong- but what about the actual music? Insert Welcome To Rockville festival.
This two-day music festival, held in Jacksonville, Florida is not your average “music festival”. Of course, it’s your typical two days filled with music acts from opening gates to nearly midnight, with overflowing kegs and people watching galore, however– Rockville strays from the typical festival lineup of the Calvin Harris’ and Florence and the Machine types of the music scene. I’m talking a stacked line-up of real rock music for two whole days. This year, the festival is able to boast giant names in the rock scene as headliners such as ZZ Top, Jacksonville natives Shinedown, 3 Doors Down, Disturbed and Rob Zombie.
We don’t want to ruin all the surprises but here’s what you should be sure not to miss.
Jack Daniel’s Whiskey Row
What’s Rock and Roll without a little whiskey- honestly? Have no fear, Jack Daniel’s will be in attendance at Welcome To Rockville. With seven different types of Jack Daniel’s available, it may be turn out to be a little difficult to remember the headliners with a few too many Jack and cokes in your system, but hey that’s what having fun is all about.
A Day To Remember
Alright, it’s not fair to point out one band out of the 45+ bands playing out- but hear me out. A Day to Remember is that band you can’t help but love. Originally from Ocala, just a few hours away from Jacksonville every show they play in town has a hometown show feeling- which is something not to be missed. Not only that, but being out of the touring game for what seems like an eternity and their recent single “Paranoia” has got people excited to see if they maybe give some more sneak peeks of upcoming new music. Their set (along with so many others) is sure to be one not to miss because you’re standing in the mile long beer line.
Like festival food wasn’t going to make it on this one. It’s one of the best parts about music festivals. (You know, after the music… and booze…) Many don’t know the great food scene present in Jacksonville, but the options available at Rockville will be sure to change people’s opinion of that real quick. Local favorites Blind Rabbit, a gourmet burger restaurant, and Burrito Gallery, a Mexican favorite will be slingin’ orders all weekend alongside food trucks with everything from “knuckle sandwiches” to a freaking nacho bar.
At the end of the day, great food, copious amounts of whiskey, and free energy drinks- Welcome to Rockville is all about the rock and roll. And 2016’s lineup reflects that. There are few other places where within 48 hours you’ll be able to see greats such as Bullet For My Valentine, Bring Me The Horizon, Escape The Fate, Enter Shikari, Pennywise, ZZ Top, 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, Disturbed and Rob Zombie. The list goes on and on and on.
What we’re trying to say is, while your Coachella FOMO may be eating you alive, festivals like Welcome to Rockville will have you laughing at those sunburnt in the desert. To make your way to Jacksonville, Florida the weekend of April 30th click here!
