A Fan Favorite Comes Back from the Grave
It’s been almost 30 years since the first Beetlejuice was released back in 1988. For those who don’t remember the story of Beetlejuice, let me help you out. A recently deceased couple portrayed by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin become ghosts and begin to haunt their former home. Then, they discover a new family has moved into their home and realize this new family is shallow, materialistic, and not very respectful to the house. The young couple attempts to scare them away but is unsuccessful. They retain the services of Beetlejuice, portrayed by Michael Keeton, a devious ghost with an offensive humor successfully scares the shallow family out of the home and the hosts live happily ever after.
Or did they? Apparently the film’s producer, Tim Burton, found it necessary to bring the film back but this time not only with Michael Keaton but with Wynona Ryder as well. Not much released as far as the plot is concerned but it should be interesting to see how the story unfolds. First mention of this sequel was in 2013. It is nice to see they are finally bringing this fan favorite back to life. However, will it be enough for audiences to want to watch after 28 years?
Many don’t know who Beetlejuice is and may not understand the premise of this sequel. Let’s hope the writers of Beetlejuice 2 can capture lightning in a bottle twice. Only time can tell. Beetlejuice 2 is not set to be released until 2017 but in the meantime, here is a sneak peek of the upcoming film.
